Up high: emission-free in the Alps
In Zermatt, Switzerland, at 1,600 meters above sea level, the average temperature is 6 °C. In January, the average temperature drops to -13.7 °C. In order to protect the ski paradise in the best possible way, the municipality has been relying on emission-free electric vehicles for years. The batteries must be correspondingly reliable. A case for TRIATHLON.

Rocket science in rail batteries
The battery container for the on-board power supply of a rail vehicle should be lightweight. The requirements could not be met with conventional construction methods. So the experts at GW Batterien used materials that are otherwise used in aerospace, among other things – and created a genuine lightweight solution.

Successfully set sail
The customer’s request was clear: The Gozzard 41, a proud single-masted ship, was to receive as much energy as possible for on-board power supply. The battery must provide power for the air conditioning, interior lighting, navigation lights to the electric windlass and hydraulic drive for the autopilot.

For fire protection, for safety
When designing a traction battery for a double-decker train, extremely high requirements had to be met. Fire protection, in particular, brought beads of sweat to the client’s forehead. The solution that was finally found sounds simple – but it is quite literally complex.

Switching from lead-acid to Li-ion: consulting solution with real-time data
A pet food manufacturer was looking for a way to avoid battery changes in the forklifts it uses during their 10-hour non-stop operation. However, time for intermediate loads were also not provided. With a comprehensive consulting service, the experts from TRIATHLON accompanied the customer on the way to a sustainable and future-proof solution.

Top performance through heating in cold storage
A potato product processing plant was looking for a solution to increase the performance of its forklifts, which must perform at -28°C. The lead-acid batteries used until now only withstood these conditions for two years. The switch to lithium-ion systems brought a whole series of advantages.

With plug-and-play for a clean, mobile power supply
Until now, diesel generators have been an indispensable part of mobile, but also stationary construction sites. However, this is by no means a clean business. Quite different with the battery trailer with 444 V voltage from, which can be put into operation according to the plug-and-play principle conceivably simple. A creative solution based on the TRIATHLON Li-Ion product portfolio.

Less is more: pool construction of lead-acid batteries
Over the years, a logistics service provider had accumulated a considerable number of lead-acid batteries to power its ever-growing fleet of vehicles. Now was the time for cleaning up. A pool of batteries with the same troughs should be formed to reduce their number but at the same time ensure the availability of the vehicles.

Always stay cool
In the cold storage environment of a logistics warehouse for the retail food trade, the industrial truck batteries have been exposed to considerable temperature jumps in the past. Move loads at -25°C, load at room temperature. Corrosion damage was a regular consequence. The innovative solution based on Li-Ion technology not only avoided such side effects, but also created freedom in the planning of new buildings in the future.

With the power of the sun
A trading company for wood and building materials generates “green” energy via a large-scale photovoltaic system on its roof. The electricity generated is to be used to charge the sideloaders used. Thus, the loads should be mandatory during the day. A task in which planning requires a sure instinct.

Service operations across continents
From its location in Dallas, Texas, TRIATHLON USA typically supplies customers in North and Central America with energy storage systems. Increasingly, companies in Latin America are also switching to modern Li-ion technology. An agile and flexible service and training schedule accompanies this process – and is on site at the customer’s request within the shortest possible time, over thousands of kilometers.

On the road on behalf of the Lord
Renovation work has to be carried out in a church with the help of an elevating work platform. During the static calculation, it turns out that a particularly light device is needed with an unchanged long range. A special solution must be found.

A lightweight on the rail
Railroad applications are subject to particularly demanding safety requirements. The customer’s request for a particularly lightweight and at the same time cost-effective battery solution made the task even more difficult. The creativity and know-how of the experts at the Rail Battery Competence Center are in demand.

Electric on the slopes
A snowmobile with a (foreign) lithium-ion battery system repeatedly shows significant temperature problems. The result is undesirably long downtimes in the supply of a hotel and restaurant at 2,222 meters above Zermatt in Switzerland. TRIATHLON is required to install a new battery system in the existing housing.

Heavy duty use without battery change
Wherever heavy loads are transported, forklifts and drives are confronted with the highest demands. With a battery specially developed for this requirement profile, TRIATHLON offers a high-performance solution that enables a large number of operating hours and makes battery replacement unnecessary.

Peak performance in the mountains
The Ramolhaus, a mountain hut in the Ötztal Alps, is located at 3,006 m above sea level. To secure the power supply in the “highest house in Hamburg”, new stationary battery storage units were to be installed in the building services. More than 2 tons of weight have to be transported up to the glacier tongue of the Gurgler Ferner.

The ice is broken…
Falling temperatures make for frozen waterways. Now, of all times, the battery of the icebreaker goes on strike. Within a very short time, a new battery must be delivered and installed in the hull of the ship. Not a job for beginners.

Big is beautiful: power in cans!
A forklift with a lifting capacity of 16 tons is used at a manufacturer of metal packaging. The lead-acid solutions of the market competitors did not produce satisfactory results due to insufficient autonomy and excessive wear. The choice fell on a Li-Ion solution from TRIATHLON – and required a comprehensive planning process.
